I believe the converter/charger in that years model is a an Atwood Magnetek. Which has a decent charging system. Mirage currently uses the Progressive Dynamics model PD4045KA, this is a little better system. I personally bypassed the Atwood/Magnetek charging system and installed a stand alone Progressive Dynamics Charging system model PD9245-C, which fit inside my current Atwood/Magnetek panel. Mirage sells those for about $170. You should still have pretty good success with your current charger with multiple batteries hooked up in parallel, but make sure that the negative charge wire is hooked up to one battery negative post and the positive charge wire is hooked up to the other positive battery post. (common mistake is to hook up the negative and positive charge wire to the same battery, as the electricity will take the path of least resistance and charge the immediate battery first.)
{Hi. We have a 2006 18 foot tandem axle Balboa toy hauler, model# MBTBV8.518TA2. I was wondering what the power converter is and if it is a dual output, or single, Multi stage, or whatever. Has anybody else had issues with batteries not getting fully charged? We decided that for dry camping we would install a second battery, and bought 2 new high quality deep cycle batteries and installed them in battery boxes and wired them proper. I have discovered that the one furthest from the trailer wiring does not get charged as well as the closer one. This is due to the difference in the resistance in the wire length. As it charges and discharges, that tiny difference in resistance does have a cumulative effect over time. I have read that the converters do a lousy job of charging the batteries due to the desire to not over charge them, therefore, I will now charge them periodically with a true battery charger and independently as it were. Anybody else have anything to say about this?
Thanks}
